The Marine Mammals of the Gulf of Mexico (W L Moody, Jr., Natural History Series, No 26)
Published in Hardcover by Texas A&M University Press (March, 2000)
Authors: Bernd G. Wursig, Bernd G. Wursig, and Thomas A. Jefferson
Average review score:

Beautiful!
This book describes the marine life of the Gulf of Mexico with numerous color photos and paintings by artist Larry Foster. This is a well-written and highly-recommended reference guide that will be particularly useful to readers or travelers visiting the Gulf.

Included in the book is a set of drawings of the skulls of Gulf species allow readers who find beached animals to identify the animal. Sketches provide dorsal, ventral and lateral views.

The authors discuss the environmental problems of the Gulf as they affect marine mammals, concluding: "Suffice it to say that our love for these creatures has the capacity of being turned into a positive conservation force, not for just them but also for their fragile environments worldwide." This is a recommended title!

Minnesota Underfoot: A Field Guide to the States Outstanding Geologic Features

Authors: Constance Jefferson Sansome and James E. Kiehne
Average review score:

Rock scrambles in Minnesota
This book describes 56 different geological sites, scattered all over Minnesota, where you can scramble around, looking at geological features. It uses USGS maps and black and white photos to show you exactly where to go. Plus, there are line drawings, tables and interesting, accurate verbal infomation about the geology of each of these sites.

If you plan to visit Minnesota or live there, and you like the outdoors, it's well worth owning this book, as well as Guide to the Superior Trail, Hiking Minnesota, and Isle Royale National Park: Foot Trails and Water Routes.

Modern Latin
Published in Paperback by Univ of Oklahoma Pr (Trd) (December, 1972)
Author: Jefferson Davis, Sadler
Average review score:

Modern Latin Book One
After having reviewed some three separate Latin books for self-study, I would have to say this one was the clear winner. All the material was laid out in a consistent, concentrated manner. The chapters were very short (2 or 3 pages each) so you could sit down and run through one relatively quickly (an hour or so to do all the questions/memorize the vocabulary).

There is a glaring, unforgivable flaw with this book - or atleast how it presented on amazon.... There is no answer guide. Well let me be correct, there *IS* an answer guide, but its not in the book, and the book that it is in ... is no longer in print. So there is no way to check your work without a teacher - or an old, used answer guide (One of which I never found - thus not completing the book).

So Sadly, as well written as this book is, I cannot recommend it for purchase unless you happen to be in a school that uses this curriculum.

Ocd Casebook: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Published in Paperback by Amer Psychiatric Pr (June, 1995)
Authors: John H. Greist, James W. Jefferson, and Greist Jefferson
Average review score:

A fascinating journey for some-a revelation for others!
Griest has done a great service in compiling case studies for his readers. He has successfully shown that OCD cannot be "limited" to a certain set of manifestations in every patient but is a biological disorder that can affect each person differently. Having lived with OCD and the medicines that control it since I was very young, I found this book hard to put down! Knowing what OCD is-is one thing; however, being able to experience it through the variety of patients in this book was not only a revelation but a journey into my own sickness. I rated it a nine because the only thing that could have made this book a 10--was information on a permanent cure.

Poplar Forest & Thomas Jefferson
Published in Hardcover by Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest (09 November, 1998)
Author: S. Allen Chambers
Average review score:

Very interesting and informative!
A very interesting look at the house Thomas Jefferson built as his personal retreat away from the crowds who visited him at Monticello. This is especially informative for those interested in historic home restorations, particularly of the colonial era. It's fascinating to see the progress made over the years!

Unusual, Beautiful, Useful
What an unusual book dedicated to those free-spirited plants that ramble, scramble, and twine across our gardens. Very well done with a good balance of information and illustration - a book I pull off the shelf regularly.

Reading Realism in Stendhal
Published in Hardcover by Cambridge University Press (April, 1988)
Author: Ann Jefferson
Average review score:

Brilliant
If you are going to study Stendhal, this is THE best book in the field by a long way. Jefferson bases her analysis upon a redefinition of what we understand by 'realism', recontextualizing it as a conflict between the spontaneity of an unforeseen 'real' and the discursive trap of mere repetition. Jefferson uses Roland Barthes as her main critical point of reference. Having established her argument about redefining the nature of realism, she goes on to analyze the four most famous of Stendhal's books.

Ruins to Redemption
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (September, 2000)
Author: Jefferson Lang
Average review score:

Ruins to Redemption a triumph!
Jefferson's Lang novel is one that left me wanting more. This novel is the fascinating story of Samual Sinclair, a All-American from Ohio State. Sonny was Sports Illustrated defensive player of the year and appeared to be a shure fire NFL supstar. That's before he tore up his knee and suddenly went from hero to bum. Three years later he's unemployed, an alcoholic, and a thief until he meets his savior a tough Irish woman and adorable family who helps him to see the light. This sensational manuscript is halarius, uplifting, and inspiration! I want to read to over and over again and I believe you love it too.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Published in Hardcover by Greenwood Press (20 September, 1978)
Authors: Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Jefferson D. Caskey, and Melinda M. Stapper
Average review score:

The compositions if the greatest Romanticist ever
The Romantics redefined english literature, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge was one of the leaders. Between he and William Wordsworth, they WERE the movement. His vision, and glorified writing style still tantalize me to this day.
